Travel Journal

I'll be taking a break from blogging for a bit, but before I go I wanted to share with you my travel journal that I made to take with  me to New York City...

Originally, I bought a bound notebook, but I quickly realized that that just wasn't going to work.  You see, I am obsessed with my writing, and if my printing doesn't just look right, I have a tendency to throw the paper away.  Hey, we all have our pecularities, don't we?  Anyway, besides journaling,  I also wanted to collect receipts and other memorabilia along the way, and this led me to think about envelopes...

So, of course, I searched online and found this fantastic accordion envelope book tutorial!  I bought envelopes at my local Dollar Store, printed off a photo of the Statue of Liberty, used some stickers to make a title, and then tied the whole book together with black grosgrain ribbon.  Hopefully, when I return, my travel journal will be loaded with goodies to share with you!

  2. Heather,
That is fantastic, so cute! How crafty you are! That should be perfect for your trip. Have a good one, you are heading into a "cooker", it's been sooooo hot back here! On the news the other night it said the place to get away from the heat was S.Cal!
Will be looking forward to hearing about your trip!

  6. This is a perfect comment on your amazing creativity...so cleaver and cute, wish I would have had something like this to take to France. I know that you are going to have a wonderful time filling up all of these envelopes. Bon Voyage!

  7. Heather - have fun! maybe you should make a little fan before you go, so you can keep cool in the sweltering heat! When I traveled to Italy (the summers are unbelievably hot; especially for a gal that lives near the ocean fog!) I kept a small scarf that was bigger than a handkerchief in my daybag and got it wet whenever I would see a water fountain! it helped a LOT! and I sweat - Stephanie's ballet instructor used to tell the girls, "you don't sweat, you GLISTEN"... can't wait to see your ticket stubs, ephemera, maps, photos etc... Have a FABULOUS time!

  13. This is such a cute idea, Heather! You did a terrific job with the embellishment. It's going to be SO much more fun to use this, rather than a plain old notebook.

Have a fun and safe trip. By the way, I'm visiting from your mom's blog. ;)
