Cheap Thrills

After seeing all sorts of great thrift store finds everywhere in blogland,  I finally decided to take the plunge and visit my local GoodWill..... Hee! Hee!.... I always giggle when I hear "GoodWill" because my father called it the "BadWon't"!

But, I must say, I was pleasantly surprised.  I have been on the lookout for some silver  to go along with my mother-in-law's silver platters, and I found these two candy dishes for a couple of bucks each.  They look very pretty sitting on the shelves above my computer...

Yes, my computer is in my bedroom.  Although I am not terribly happy about having my computer in the bedroom, this truly is the best place for it right now at Love and Life at Leadora.

While looking at this photo, I noticed I still need something on the top shelf.  Are you thinking what I'm thinking?  Perhaps something dark in color?  If you have a suggestion, I would love to hear from you!

  4. Love the nick-name you Dad gave Good Will...it's like my Dad calling the dump...the Boutique! My mom would get so made at all the stuff he'd drag home...lol How about moving the silver trays to the top shelf and adding some books to the second shelf mixed in with a favorite quote. Just a thought ;)

  6. Love your little finds. Making me want to go to GW today. Dark baskets come to my mind, mainly for the functionality in the desk area. But I can't tell how deep the shelf is. I know you'll find the perfect thing.

  7. Great finds! And what a cute little desk area for your computer!
I really like to visit Goodwill myself; so many people get rid of things that are really nice (like vintage dishes and serving pieces and silver) because they aren't "into" that kind of thing....which makes it a perfect place for me to shop!!!

  9. I think you have a lovely space to work in. Love your chair and the shelving. I always see ironstone, so maybe a couple pitchers on the top shelf. Possibly French pitchers.

  11. I love to look around in thrift shops and estate sales, but I never seem to find enough time! Summer is when I usually find my treasures.

I love what you have done with your space. How about something green on top to match the tulips in the glass vase?

    Happy decorating!

  18. Hi, first visit here. I could see a woven basket on the top of the shelf or even some pretty pottery-maybe you can find some at BadWon't. (LOL, your dad's comment made me laugh.)
